British Summer Championships - Daily Download (Day 2)
Astrid H again capitalised on her ‘superpower’ using her underwater to great effect at both start and turn of the 100 back, leading to her 2nd best heat swim ever. Experimenting with nutrition protocols paid dividend for Izzy R as she achieved her fastest ever heat swim, to place as reserve for 16yr final. Polly P again demonstrated the guts and resilience that she role models so well during her 100 backstroke heat. Tati reflected that more attack was needed in her final swim; she committed to this and consolidated her heat swim. Sophia attacked both heat and final with front end speed, showing confidence and reinforcing her 2% improvement; the improvement in her underwater work was lovely to watch. Gemma’s double drop earned her the 3rd biggest improvement of the day. Her final time and splits matched her race targets (from Feb/Mar) to perfection....great planning Gem!
David O’L had a nervy 200 butterfly, with a good 1st 100m. Jakob improved his distance underwater from all his turns leading to a fabulous display of even splits and a new best time.
Alice C swam her 2nd best 200 breaststroke of the year with a wonderfully brave first 25m and beautifully paced 2nd, 3rd and 4th 50s. Ruby D took on the field from an outside lane and held her splits well for the last 150m. Lily B had a super controlled & efficient heat swim which ended in an unfortunate DQ. Sophia W executed a technical focused race plan to perfection, leading to great seasons best.
Solomon W achieved a new PB in the 100m backstroke with good front end speed; he finished as 1st reserve by 0.01sec. Sam D-D reflected positively on his 2nd best ever swim - new plans laid for the 2019-2020 season. Matt H broke the minute barrier twice in once day; a wonderful result for this multi sport athlete. Adam G controlled first 50 and came back with awesome back end speed; he stepped up again in the final by executing an improved race plan following his heat reflections. This intelligent swimming lead to Adam achieving the biggest drop of the day (4.7%)
Rhiannon E attacked her 50 fly with a stroke rate of 65 achieving another sub 30 finishing time. Ruby D held a consistent rate throughout the 50 to finish as 1st reserve, right on her best time.
Richard T has embraced new race day routines around warm up/priming. He achieved a life time best to qualify for the 13/14yrs final. Will M has taken confidence from his performances during the 100m breaststroke’s and achieved a seasons best to finish as first reserve for the 17/18 final. Dimitrios T reinforced the great 50m split from his 100m breaststroke and double dropped to take the 15yrs Silver and record the 2nd biggest drop of the day (4.5%)
Overall Day 2 saw a lot of big step ups and drops from heats to finals. Tomorrow sees the start of the relay events. To check out the results, you can find them HERE.
