Matt Puddy - Assistant Swimming Coach
Matt swam and played waterpolo as an age/youth competitor before holding several key swimming teaching positions with Bristol City Council. Since 2003 Matt has been the Head Coach of four different clubs, coaching swimmers from beginner through to junior International level. A place on the ASA Advanced Coaching Offer whilst Head Coach at Soundwell Swimming Club led him onto a Sports Performance Degree in 2012. South Gloucestershire Council awarded him Professional Coach of the Year in 2013. An eagerness to see Bristol produce results that he was familiar with as a youngster saw Matt return to the city and initiate a merger to form City of Bristol Aquatics. The newly formed club went on to finish as Swim England Club of the Year Runners Up in 2017. Amongst several other roles, Matt has spent time as a Private Swim School Operator, Pool Manager and more recently a Swim Retail Business Development Manager. He loves everything that aquatic sports has to offer. Over the years Matt has developed a flexible coaching style and combined with his warm, energetic personality, is a welcome addition to the coaching team.

Matt's Interesting Fact:
Why not test Matt’s creative side. He was once offered an art scholarship to Falmouth University. During uncontrollable moments of excitement he can sometimes be found drawing ideal race strategies for competitors. Needless to say, his artwork is no longer of the highest quality.
